There is one book that really stands out in my mind, where the opening scene gave me all sorts of feels: Across the Universe by Beth Revis.

The book starts out with Amy and her parents going through with cryogenic freezing. The author put a lot of detail into the whole process, and the parents end up going first so Amy is able to see what will be happening to her next. Plus she has to say goodbye to them, and although the idea is that they would be able to be reanimated at a later date, nothing is for certain. It was a mixture of interesting, horrifying, and just plain sad for me. Overall it's not my favorite book ever, but I think that first scene will stick with me forever. If you want to check out the first chapter for free, click HERE; it will take you to Amazon, where you can use the "Look Inside" option to read the entire first chapter. I just read it again, for the first time in years, and I'm crying. Yep, still has that effect on me.

Which opening scene in a book is your favorite? Let me know in the comments, or link to your post so I can see your answer! Oh and also, since the linky list was a little broken last time, here is the link to my previous FF answer about audiobooks.

As far as follows go, you can pick one of the following ways:

  1. Starting a story when you are about cryogenic freezing is terrifying! It’s a strong opening scene if sticks with you. I would definitely have to check out Across the Universe. I am following you on Blogloven, Twitter, and Goodreads.
