God Bless America: A Patriotic Coloring Book by Multnomah

Amazon / Book Depository

Publisher: Multnomah
Publication Date: June 14, 2016

Enter the pages of this coloring book for adults, and you will find a peaceful way to reflect on what makes America a truly amazing country: our values of equality, opportunity, faith, family, character, generosity, justice, and perseverance. Each coloring page features an original design from one of nine different artists, illustrating an inspirational quote from one of the Founding Fathers, an historic document, a patriotic hymn, or another of America’s heroes.

Slow down, quiet the noise, and express creativity as you color your way through history.

So grab your colored pencils or markers, find a comfortable spot to relax, and spend some time celebrating America. To help set the perfect patriotic mood, a link to the “Coloring America” playlist is included inside.

I am a coloring book junkie. I color all of the time...well, when life allows me to anyway. There's nothing better than breaking out some sharp colored pencils or smooth markers and making otherwise dull pictures come to life.

God Bless America: A Patriotic Coloring Book is beautiful. The publisher enlisted the help of many very talented artists and illustrators to make a diverse coloring book that will appeal to just about everyone. On every coloring page is a quote from a famous historical figure, such as Rosa Parks, Cesar Chavez, and Abraham Lincoln, all following along with the patriotic theme. On the back of the coloring pages is information about the author of the quote, throwing a little historical knowledge into the mix as well.

My first thought when flipping through this book was, "Wow, these would look amazing framed and hanging on a wall!" Luckily the publisher was thinking the same thing, because each page is perforated so you can color and then display your work of art for everyone to see. I'm more of a colored pencil fan, but I think markers would be bright and gorgeous for this book, especially if you plan on displaying them on your walls. The only thing I would be concerned with is bleed-through; the pages are fairly thick, but you may want to test it on a non-essential page first just to make sure.

A few of the pages are a little sparse on illustrations, making the quote the highlight, yet even these pages are lovely and fun to color. Some of the illustrations are nice and big, easy to color, while others are more intricate and require more finesse. I really appreciated that fact, because it didn't seem monotonous at all. As I said before, coloring enthusiasts all prefer different things, and there are pictures in this book for everyone to enjoy.

Another nice little inclusion is the playlist they mention at the end of the book. There is a link to a playlist on Spotify, so you can enjoy music and get into the patriotic spirit. Some of the songs you can expect to hear are I'm Already There by Lonestar, Made in America by Toby Keith, and Song of the Patriot by Johnny Cash and Marty Robbins. And if you want to share your colored pages with the world or see what other people have created, use hashtag #COLORINGAMERICA.

If you are a fan of coloring, inspirational quotes, and historical facts, you are going to love God Bless America: A Patriotic Coloring Book.

I received this book from Blogging For Books in exchange for an honest review
