Everything about him warned me to stay away.

I’d seen bad boys before, but he had it all and more. The rippling muscles covered in tatts, the piercing eyes hiding dark secrets, the silky voice that could make a girl come with just a whisper . . .

He was exactly the type of guy that would get me in trouble, but when he jumped off the stage, inked skin glistening with sweat and breathed his seductive words into my ear, I couldn’t resist the temptation.

It was supposed to be the best one-night stand of my life, but fate didn’t let it play out that way. Things happened. I got upset. I got hasty. And worst of all, I got reckless.

After that disaster, I thought it was the last I’d see of him. But what I didn’t know was that I’d started something.

Something that could shatter the very thing I had worked so hard to protect.

I should have known back then that the most seductive things in life are also the most dangerous.

Ok, first of all I want to talk about the cover of Reckless. It is clearly supposed to depict the male lead in this book, Jax, who is a super hot singer in a band. The guy pictured is undoubtedly hot, but not who I pictured at all, given the description by the author. Jax has shoulder length hair that he keeps loose (at least most of the time), "sharply angled brows", olive skin, and a scar over his left eyebrow. Why oh why does this sound familiar? Oh yeah, probably because of this guy:

If you don't know who this is, then shame on you! Just kidding; it's Jason Momoa, and now I'm pretty sure if you didn't know who he was before, you're going to Google him to look at more pictures. Go ahead, I won't judge you, and you're welcome. Getting to the point of what I was trying to say, cover man is hot but let's face it, the author was clearly looking at Jason Momoa's face as she was writing the description of Jax. And I thank her for it, because this is exactly who I pictured while I was reading this book and it was amazing. A-hem, so anyway, let's finally get into this review shall we?

I liked Riley Hewitt right off the bat. When we first meet her, she's at a bar with one of her friends getting ready to listen to a band. It's crowded and she's determined to get closer so she can actually see the performance. As anyone who's been to a concert can tell you, this can get a bit crazy. Riley has an especially difficult time because every female in the room is in lust with the lead singer, Jax Trenton. She eventually makes it toward the front and sparks fly as soon as they make eye contact. Their first meeting is a little tumultuous, and I couldn't help but applaud Riley for having the fortitude to walk away from him the way she does.

I enjoyed the chemistry between Jax and Riley so much. Riley ended up becoming the band's accountant which meant the two would have to spend a lot of time together. They needled and teased each other incessantly, but it was clear to the reader that they were developing some intense feelings. I shared Riley's reservations about him though, because rock stars are notorious for sleeping around and I can't imagine trying to be in a relationship with one. Riley's refusal to give into Jax's advances creates a delicious sexual tension and makes for some really great scenes. Just wait until you read about their hot tub escapades; it made me feel like I needed to take a long, cold shower.

It's obvious pretty early on that both Jax and Riley have some skeletons in their closets. These secrets are revealed in time and my heart hurt for both of them. I really felt for Riley, though, because I was in a situation just like she was. It was terrible, being manipulated like that all the time, but I couldn't seem to find my way out. It actually gave me shivers since it was so close to my own experience. Jax's story made me shed a few tears, which I wasn't expecting to happen. It all gives more depth to this story of two people trying to forge a relationship under already difficult circumstances.

I feel I should warn you, Reckless ends on a cliffhanger. I turned the last page and my mouth dropped open. Oh no, it couldn't end like that! It can, and it did. I immediately went to the internet to find out what in the world I was supposed to do with my life next. Turns out the sequel to this novel is already out; Fearless was released late last year. Hooray, we don't have to sit around and wait to find out what happens!

If you couldn't already guess, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The characters were fascinating and complex, and the sparks between Riley and Jax were palpable. I am beyond excited to read Fearless to find out what happens next.
